Ness and Beauly Fisheries Trust     Corff House     Beauly     Iverness-Shire     IV4 7BE     Scottish Charity Number SCO37684

Since its inception N&BFT has engaged in the provision of wide range of educational and outreach activities. Salmon in the Classroom   (see www.snh.org.uk/salmonintheclassroom/ )has been at the core of education provision for a number of years with Glen Urquhart Primary School and Teanassie Primary School amongst the first schools to take part.

A slightly different slant to this type of programme was produced for the Salmon in the Forest events organised in conjunction with the Forestry Commission. Stuart Findlay of the Forestry Commission has been particularly active in enlisting the help of N&BFT  for events such as Catch and Cook  and providing an electro-fishing demonstration at Abriachan Forest Trust along with a general talk on the life and times of being a fishery biologist to the rural skills group from Glen Urquhart High School and Charleston Academy.

In other practical demonstrations, Highland Council Rangers were also entertained and hopefully informed with a lamprey hunt on the lower reaches of the Moniack Burn. Numerous lamprey ammocoetes were captured as well a lamprey transformer (a lamprey approaching its adult stage) in addition to trout, eels and salmon.  Many of the smaller burns in the district have a surprising number of species present.

N&BFT staff have often been called upon to give talks on its activities to a wide variety of bodies and organisations. These include local angling clubs, chambers of commerce, schools, Highlands of Scotland Tour Guides Association and many more. Please make contact with N&BFT if you would feel that your organisation would be interested in the services provided by the Trust.
